Unit Mission Statement

Maintain a forward-deployed Expeditionary Signal Battalion(-) to Engineer, Install, Operate, Maintain, and Defend (EIOM&D) tactical Army Theater level Information Systems in support of USCENTCOM forces.

On order support USARCENT Contingency Command Posts with tactical communications, provide theater reserve communications support, and major communications node restoral.

  • Constituted 25 June 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 984th Signal Service Company and activated at Fort Dix, New Jersey
  • Inactivated 29 May 1946 in Italy
  • Allotted 30 June 1947 to the Organized Reserves
  • Activated 11 July 1947 at Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • (Organized Reserves redesignated 25 March 1948 as the Organized Reserve Corps; redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve)
  • Reorganized and redesignated 17 December 1948 as Company A, 319th Signal Battalion (remainder of battalion not organized)
  • Inactivated 16 November 1950 at Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Redesignated 17 July 1956 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 319th Signal Battalion
  • Activated 1 August 1956 at Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Inactivated 1 April 1959 at Tulsa, Oklahoma
  • Activated 17 September 1988 at Stockton, California (organic elements concurrently constituted and activated)
  • (Location of Headquarters changed 15 September 1994 to Sacramento, California; on 10 March 1998 to Rancho Cordova, California; on 15 January 2000 to Sacramento, California)
  • Ordered into active military service 7 December 2003 at Sacramento, California; released from active military service 3 June 2005 and reverted to reserve status
  • Ordered into active military service 22 March 2012 at Sacramento, California; currently serving in support of Operation Enduring Freedom
